What magazine covers suit me?

Recently I have been doing a bit of research into the depths of UK independent film magazines to gain ideas, learn and explore different ideas for my own magazine cover.

Primarily I have decided to focus on ‘Little White Lies’ and the very basic aspect of their magazine designs. I feel they’re very catchy, attractive yet very affective!

You can generally see from this picture the majority of the Little White Lies magazine covers have a very repetitive yet unique style.

- Dull backgrounds are installed to direct your focus into their pictures in the middle.

- Pictures are always directly in the middle of the page

- A circular barcode often overlaying the main picture above the centre.

- A title matching the film theme.

- Usually a colour theme regarding 2 or 4 colours

- A cartoon like picture with low detail.

Nearly their entire magazine covers include a person directly staring at you, positioned in the centre of the page. This indicates a sign of power to the viewer instantly signifying confidence. This also connotes fear in some aspects.

Since my plot evolves around fear and similar aspects, Little White Lies is a perfect magazine for me to study regarding the way their magazines are laid out.
