Man on fire - Trailer overview

Directed by Tony Scott, Man on fire is a typical action packed movie that is tense, upfront and upsetting at times. Made in 2004 Being budgeted at 70$ million, Man on fire is considerably a rather high budget film.

From this trailer you can just feel how tense it is, the sound effects are simply amazing. The sound has such a huge impact in this trailer, it really gets you involved. The sound effects totally override the music.

As you can see there is a bird’s eye overview of the whole situation, this gives us an overall view of what is happening. Yet it looks down meaning someone is going to be made vulnerable, very predictable that something bad will happen.

We then see a close up of creasy; this makes us feel restricted and limited in a way as if he is also limited. This is almost seen in a claustrophobic way.

As you can see from this part in the trailer sound is so vital. It adds such a big shock factor and keeps the audience focused. These gunshot sound affects are nearly double the volume of the music soundtrack, this is very good for creating a dramatic effect.

Here are some memories and flashbacks of creasy and pita, sepia effects are used here to create a past tense moment. I will need to include scenes like this in my trailer with sepia colour effects to connote the past tense.

The trailer is structured really well. The first 50 seconds open the trailer up perfectly, it includes the most chaotic and important scene in the movie at the beginning of the trailer. I feel this works well due to the fact it gets the person watching it attracted and focused instantly. After this the trailer pace slows down a bit. A big part of this trailer is emotion. You can feel the relationship creasy and pita have from watching the trailer. In my trailer I include two people with a close bond as well as creasy and pita, I can use this trailer as inspiration. We then see the trailer rapidly speed up; this is inevitable due to it being an action movie. Overall the structure of this trailer is vital to explore and consider for my trailer, the way the trailer starts fast with a big impact. Followed by a slow period expressing a relationship and ending with a fast pace buildup is exactly what my trailer will consist of.
